Meta expands Muse avatar video chats to all U.S. users
Meta has made Muse Voice available to everyone in the United States. The feature allows people to call or video chat with Muse, the company’s consumer AI agent, using a customizable animated avatar. Meta first presented the video-chat capability at its Connect developer conference in September.
The experience is powered by the Muse Realtime Avatar and Muse Realtime Voice models. The avatar, nicknamed Jolly, can answer questions and handle requested tasks, while displaying expressions and gestures that Meta says correspond to the conversation’s tone. Users can change its appearance to resemble a person, an animal, or another character. Meta said the design is intended to help users feel more connected to the agent.
Meta chief AI officer Alexandr Wang announced the wider rollout in a blog post and on X, showing a demonstration with a fluffy white dog avatar. Real-time conversations currently work on mobile devices, the web, and Mac. Meta plans to extend them to its AI Glasses and the upcoming Muse Charm device. A Tamagotchi-like wearable planned before the end of the year will display the avatar and let users interact with Muse.
