Grimes joins AI-generated sci-fi film Gods Don't Give Gifts

Pop star Grimes will appear in Gods Don't Give Gifts, an AI-generated science-fiction film scheduled for release in theaters on December 4th. The project is being presented as “the first AI film to come to theatres,” making its release a notable test of whether AI-produced movies can find a commercial audience.

Grimes is contributing both her likeness and her vocal performance to the production. A clip featuring her participation has been released, showing how the film uses the performer’s appearance and voice.

AI studio Fable is producing Gods Don't Give Gifts. In a press release, the company said that using an actor’s likeness together with their spoken vocal performance could become more common. The film’s theatrical launch and the involvement of a recognizable pop artist place it among early, high-profile attempts to bring an AI-generated feature to cinemas.
