Google launches Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash for longer video generation

Google has begun rolling out Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash, making the video-generation model generally available through the Gemini API and Gemini for business. The update supports native creation and editing of clips up to 15 seconds, compared with 10 seconds in Omni 1.1. Video can be generated at durations from three to 15 seconds in one-second increments. Google says the price is 30% lower than Gemini Omni 1.1, at $0.07 per second for 720p video.

The model can use character, product and style images, motion clips of up to three seconds, and audio cues as references. Google says it better preserves faces, clothing, packaging text, brand colors, objects and environments throughout a clip, including during camera changes and transitions. Users can refine a clip through successive conversational edits, such as changing a background, product, lighting, weather or aspect ratio, without regenerating the entire video.

Other reported improvements include more natural dialogue, clearer lip-sync, multi-speaker control and smoother cinematic camera movements. Outputs include an imperceptible SynthID watermark. Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash is also rolling out across Flow, Google Vids, the Gemini app and Google Ads, while Google says work continues on sports motion, rapid script changes and complex physics.
