AT&T Adds Gemini for Home Features to Connected Life Security
AT&T’s Connected Life smart home security system now works with Gemini for Home. AT&T says the service is the first home security product to integrate with Google Home Premium, bringing AI-based tools for reviewing activity around a residence.
Gemini can generate detailed descriptions of security-camera events, including who delivered a package and how many items were left. Users can also ask natural-language questions to search recorded footage, such as what dug up the yard or who let the dogs out. The system can additionally provide daily summaries of activity inside and outside the home.
The Gemini features are available only through AT&T’s professional Connected Life monitoring plan, which costs $29.99 per month. AT&T is also introducing automatic arming and disarming based on a user’s proximity to the home.
AT&T launched Connected Life last December in partnership with Google and Abode. The system now uses Google’s Gemini-powered Home APIs, which let smart-home companies and developers create AI features for connected devices. ADT has indicated that it may add Gemini for Home capabilities to its own security systems.
