Nexus Mods will require creators to disclose AI use

Nexus Mods, a repository for PC gaming modifications, is introducing mandatory disclosure of artificial intelligence use for newly uploaded mods. Mod authors will have to indicate whether AI was involved in creating their work. The platform announced the change in a broader post addressing AI-generated content on its site.

Site owner Victor "Foledinho" Folmann said the policy responds to concerns that users cannot always tell when AI has been used to make a mod. Nexus Mods already provides tags for AI-generated and AI-assisted modifications, but Folmann said the site recognizes that this information needs to be made more accessible and easier to understand. The new requirement is intended to add that disclosure when creators submit new mods, while the platform continues to address how AI-related information is presented to users.
