Chinese Moonshot AI negotiates hosting deals with Microsoft, Amazon, and Google

A Chinese AI company could land its model on major US cloud platforms for the first time, taking a cut of the revenue. Chinese AI startup Moonshot AI is in talks with Microsoft, Amazon, and Alphabet's Google over revenue-sharing deals, Reuters reports.

The agreements would let the US providers host the AI model Kimi K3 on their Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud platforms. Moonshot is asking for up to 30 percent of revenue from K3 services, according to three people familiar with the discussions. No Chinese AI company has struck a deal like this with a major US cloud provider before.

The talks are still early, and a deal is far from certain. Open questions include the revenue split, data access, and how token usage gets tracked. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent recently threatened Moonshot with a trade ban, and US authorities have accused the company of stealing Anthropic's model Fable. Moonshot denies the allegations. Microsoft, Google, and AWS declined to comment to Reuters.
