Agility takes humanoid robotics company public through SPAC

Agility has begun trading on Nasdaq after completing a reverse merger with a special purpose acquisition company. The transaction makes it the first publicly traded pure-play humanoid robotics company and provides $465 million in new capital from retail investors and private funding.

The Oregon State University spinout, founded in 2015, has deployed Digit robots with nine customers, including Schaeffler, GXO, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada, and Mercado Libre. The machines move heavy totes in industrial facilities; more than 100,000 have been handled at one GXO site. In the first six months of 2026, Agility recorded $174,000 in revenue, mostly from related parties, and a $362 million loss.

Agility says it has $300 million in planned contracts from 30 customers for Digit 5. The robot is intended to work safely around people and is expected to be demonstrated at CES 2027, with broader availability planned for the end of that year. Customers must first pay $500,000 for an on-site proof of concept. Digit currently places heavy loads with 98% accuracy but cannot reliably perform complex manipulation. Agility says it has 65,000 hours of operational data and production capacity for up to 10,000 robots annually.
